Asbestos Notification COPY 1

2021-2022 School Year

To:  Parent, Guardian, Staff Member and all Community users of the School

Dear Sir/Madam,

Pursuant to the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) of 1986, this is to formally notify you, as we are required to do at least once each school year, that the Montclair Board of Education has an approved management  plan relating to the identification  and location of asbestos-containing materials. These plans are on file in each school office and also in the Buildings and Grounds office, and are available for your inspection.

In previous years, the Board completed specific response actions to address all of the "priority ACBM" identified in its facilities. (Priority "ACBM" including easily damageable material such as insulation, ceiling tiles, etc.) Currently specific activities related to the district wide renovations and additions are being undertaken when necessary. The Board will continue to maintain other ACBM identified in place under the operations and maintenance program.

Surveillance and other consulting activities are being performed by Detail Associates, a qualified asbestos management consultant retained by the Board for assistance in these matters. Currently, all AHERA abatement and repairs as identified by the surveys and AHERA plan is being done by Lilich Corporation, a NJ certified abatement contractor.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me at 973-509-4044.

Yours truly,
Jonathan Ponds, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
