Reach for the Stars

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am looking forward to the experience of working with campers in the Glenfield Planetarium this summer! We will explore the universe, fly on the wings of pterosaurs, engage in the process of aeronautical engineering, and use a state-of-the-art digital system to develop spectacular shows. Reach for the Stars should provide future planetarium navigators with an experience that they will never forget!

Daily Schedule:

Table describing the daily schedule for students
Time  Description
9:00 – 9:15 am  I will meet campers in front of Glenfield Middle School. Please contact me if you are going to drop your camper off later than 9:15.
9:15 – 10:30 am  Planetarium time! Campers will experience a live presentation or view one of our Full Dome titles.
10:30 – 12:00 pm  We will move into a classroom to conduct an activity related to the planetarium content of the day. Snack time as well!
12:00 – 1:00 pm  Lunch time and free time. We will go outside when it is possible. Please make sure that your camper is prepared for daily outdoor activities.
1:00 – 3:00 pm  We will complete any projects and spend time learning how to use the planetarium hardware and software.
3:00 – 3:15 pm  I will dismiss campers from the front of Glenfield Middle School. Please contact me if you cannot pick up your camper by 3:15.

A few things to remember:

  • Make sure that your camper brings a bagged lunch, snack, and enough water for the day.
  • We will spend time indoors and outdoors. Your camper will need to bring sunscreen that they can apply themselves.
  • Campers will be responsible for their own belongings while they are here. Make sure that names are written on lunches, sunscreen, water bottles, and snacks. This statement applies to any phones, devices, or toys campers bring into Glenfield.

Please contact me (Delia Maloy Furer) via email if you have any questions. Thank you for enrolling your camper in Reach for the Stars!
